Namira Salim, a remarkable individual hailing from Karachi, Pakistan, is an avid polar explorer, aspiring astronaut, and accomplished artist now residing in Monaco and Dubai. Recognized for her pioneering achievements, she holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani to conquer both the North and South Poles. Salim's accolades also extend to her groundbreaking tandem skydive from Mount Everest, an extraordinary feat accomplished in 2008.

Her journey into the realm of space exploration began in 2006 when she became one of the first 100 future space tourists to join Virgin Galactic's Founder Astronaut Club. Over the years, she underwent rigorous training, including a comprehensive Sub-Orbital Spaceflight Training at the NASTAR Center, gaining approval from the FAA. Her dream of space travel became a step closer to reality when she purchased a ticket for Virgin Galactic's commercial space liner, marking her as a "Founder Astronaut."

In addition to her personal pursuits, Salim is the visionary founder of Space Trust, a non-profit initiative advocating for Space as the New Frontier for Peace. Under her leadership, Space Trust organized an interactive exhibition and conference in 2015, attended by notable figures including Prince Albert II. The event showcased a mesmerizing "Black Marble Earth," depicting Earth's night view from space, captured by the Suomi NPP Satellite.

Furthermore, Salim's creative talents shine through her unique artworks. She curated exhibitions such as "Peace Making with Nation Souls" and launched her documentary titled "Beyond the Poles," chronicling her remarkable journey and collaboration with Virgin Galactic. Her astronomical jewelry collection, Namira Monaco, received prestigious recognition, making its way into the gift bags of the 89th Academy Awards and the Official Grammy Gift Bags during the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Salim's dedication to humanitarian causes is also noteworthy. She actively raised funds for Pakistan's earthquake in 2005 and the devastating floods in 2010, contributing approximately US$0.5 million for relief and reconstruction efforts. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she was honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) by the President of Pakistan in 2011 and the Power 100 Trailblazer Award by Pakistan Power 100 in 2013. Additionally, she received the Femina Middle East Women Award in 2016 for her unstoppable spirit in space exploration.

Petroleum prices in Pakistan expected to drop significantly

Arif  Habib Limited (AHL), a brokerage firm in Pakistan, has predicted a substantial decrease in petroleum prices across the country, starting from October 16. AHL estimates a drop of Rs41 per litre for petrol and Rs19 per litre for diesel. This optimistic forecast is attributed to the significant decline in international oil prices over the past week, influenced by factors such as demand concerns, a stronger US dollar, inflationary pressures, and rising supplies. The Finance Ministry had recently lowered petrol prices by Rs8 and diesel prices by Rs11, providing some relief to the public. AHL's forecast is based on the notable 9% to 11% drop in the prices of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil, Brent, and Arablight, compared to the last fortnightly average prices. International gasoline (MS) witnessed a substantial 15% decrease, while international prices of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) experienced a 10% dip.
